For more than a decade we've pushed the bleeding-edge of delicious spirits and liqueurs; English Spirit founder and Master Distiller John Walters' passion for all things glass and plate are brought together in our adventure at Treguddick, a small hamlet where all things spirits and food combine to titillate the palate to extraordinary heights. Our restaurant and distillery at Treguddick is our bibulous culinary temple and our first product from here is our Boozy Ketchup!
MADE WITH ENGLISH SPICED RUM
How come boozy Ketchup? Like all good stories its true! We wanted to serve a bacon sandwich in our restaurant, that quintessentially British delight, but not only that, the best bacon sandwich. The bacon was easy - Philip Warren & Son, Master Butchers who we are lucky to have just up the road from us at Treguddick. The bread took a bit of tweaking and then the ketchup. We um'ed and ah'ed until we said damn it we'll have to make one that takes tomato-y-ness to the next level with the right balance of spice and umami. That's where English Spirit Spiced Rum came in - delish and just the ticket. We served it to guests and right from the start people started saying "when can we buy this, its delicious". And here we are a couple of months later responding our supportive customers with our Boozy Ketchup, packaged and ready to eat at home.

THE HISTORY OF TREGUDDICK
The granite brine tanks in the buttery date back to the early 1500s, so the place has seen a bit of curing in its time. For us preserves of all kinds are a natural step, after all what better preservative than alcohol in its numerous guises. They are so much in common, both alcohol and preserves cram flavour into one's meal and that is our raison d'etre. Follow our adventures here and take a little piece of our delight away to enjoy at home with your own cuisine.

NON ALCOHOLIC SHRUBS
What's a shrub? Its a fruit syrup combined with herbs and vinegar that dates back thousands of years.
For us this basic structure was the ideal way to cram oceans of flavour into a distilled non-alcoholic drink. Yes, you read correctly, a distilled non-alcoholic drink.
We have pushed the boundaries with vinegar production; we take our superbly flavoured spirits and then we put them through a further fermentation to turn the alcohol to acetic acid, keeping the superb flavours intact.
Next we make real fruit syrups with just the right combination of herbs and spices and combine these with our spirit vinegars and one and all are absolutely delicious.
Sounds a bit wacky? Not at all, remember most soft drinks use citric acid from citrus fruits to deliver their acidity and dryness. Here we use vinegar, which has less acidity. This gentler form always us to layer and augment flavours with greater range and precision. You have to try them - you will not be disappointed.
