It's no secret that most of our team came to work for us after trying one of our spirits and undergoing something of an epiphany. Everyone that works here at Treguddick is united in their passion for delivering the finest products and service and sharing them with others; read on to find out more about us.
DR JOHN WALTERS
A former biochemist, Dr John decided to turn his talents to making spirits after deciding that other commercially available options simply were not up to scratch. He is the founder of Treguddick and English Spirit, and oversees the creation of all our products, both new and existing.
Dr John is one of the UK’s most experienced distillers. Turning an average of ten stills per day, and distilling the UK’s widest variety of spirits from scratch. His creations have won the most prestigious awards from the leading international spirit competitions, and he has consistently led innovation in the spirits market.
WHATEVER HE FANCIES ON THE DAY
Sam has a Graphic Design degree plus 10 years experience as a senior designer and leads our visionary direction as our Creative Executive. Having been responsible for the interior design of Treguddick, Sam has shaped the direction of the English Spirit brand. She created all the brand assets and designs the product labels, packaging and menus. Sam also captures all our photography and designs the website.
Sam moved to Cornwall and fell in love with the outdoors lifestyle, spending her time paddle boarding, wake boarding and having BBQ’s on the beach!
RASPBERRY & BAY SHRUB
Having gained a degree in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, Loren leads the team in a variety of ways. Loren is passionate about delivering first-class service, and her bubbly and enthusiastic personality means she is a firm favourite with customers. She assists with the running of events, trains FOH team members, and is responsible for the sourcing and ordering of all our delicious local produce, as well as helping with the creation of new menus.
Loren loves outdoor life when she's not at Treguddick, walking her dogs Coco and Bella on the SW coast path and loves a day out at the races.
SALTED CARAMEL LIQUEUR
Tom has been working closely with the Treguddick team since June 2022, including delivering our event menus, he will be the driving force behind the restaurant when he joins us full-time in September.
Tom, who was a MasterChef finalist in 2019, has a wealth of experience from running pop-up events around the UK to menu consultation.
Tom has already begun to design innovative dishes that combine our high-quality spirits with the best ingredients available in the South West.
ENGLISH SPICED RUM
Harry trained at the world renowned RHS Rosemoor, where he began a horticultural career that he is very proud of. He takes care of all the verdure within the Treggudick grounds with great enthusiasm; his main focus is the weird & wonderful plants and botanicals in all the bio domes. He is the fountain of knowledge when it comes to all things green.
Harry loves volunteering as a Scout Leader in Launceston in his free time. He also enjoys baking and is often bringing in tasty homemade treats, much to the delight of everyone at Treguddick.
Since joining our team in early 2020, Kurt has brought over 30 years of experience in construction and shopfitting to every aspect of our new distillery at Treguddick. A self-confessed perfectionist, his expertise has helped us to finish our project to an exceptionally high standard. Kurt also oversees all the maintenance within the grounds.
Curious by nature, Kurt enjoys learning and turning his hand to any craft: whether it be new design software for our machinery, pizza making, or horticulture. At weekends, he can usually be found making improvements to his home, often to make room for his family’s menagerie of pets.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Abi is based at Treguddick and enhances the brand through innovative marketing and distinguished events. Abi has been working in hospitality for 15 years across a wide variety of roles from event management and marketing to team management and cooking. She also has a first-class master’s degree in Business and Management and an undergraduate degree in Marketing.
Abi loves walking on Dartmoor with her daughter and enjoying good food and drink with her husband. She enjoys swimming, running, and cycling, with the odd triathlon.
Esther is based at Treguddick and helps to manage the team of Team Members in the running of the tours, cafe and shop. Esther can also be seen on shows and markets selling the beautiful range of products that we make.
Esther grew up in Sidmouth by the sea. She now lives near Tavistock where she bought an old house with her husband which they have been renovating themselves.
Esther has 2 boys, Jack & Fred who keep her very busy! Esther loves walking on Dartmoor and spending time socialising with friends and family.
DR J'S GIN
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Joe joined Treguddick in July 2022 as our research and development specialist. Joe works closely with John and Tom to keep Treguddick and English Spirit at the forefront of innovation. Joe has a strong background in the hospitality trade with 10 years of experience and is a self-proclaimed perfectionist. Working with and enjoying a range of spirits himself Joe became interested in how they were made which led him to Treguddick.
Outside of work Joe can be found participating in his other passion as an on-call firefighter for Tavistock Fire Station. In the rest of his spare time, he can be found enjoying food and drink with his wife and daughter.
ENGLISH TOFFEE VODKA
Our Spirit Ambassadors are really just a fantastic bunch of people who love nothing more than spreading the word far and wide about all things Treguddick.
Whether that’s by hosting tasting tours at the distillery, and imparting their extensive knowledge about all of our amazing spirits and liqueurs. Or by attending fairs, markets and events and selling our products. Some of them have other roles at the distillery. As FOH team members, or managing the grounds and building, and also promoting our new range of Treguddick condiments and preserves to local suppliers. A pretty talented lot really!
